A dog owner has been arrested after his German Shepherd attacked a man in a front garden.

Merseyside Police said the victim, in his 30s, suffered "multiple injuries to his arm and hand" after being bitten just after 18:00 BST on Saturday in Keble Drive, Aintree.

The force said officers seized the dog after it had been restrained by its owner. The victim was taken to hospital.

A 62-year-old man from Sefton has been arrested on suspicion of being in charge of an out of control dangerous dog in a public place.
